Alumni Tournament Rules

Rules:

  1. BAT TESTING: The commissioner reserves the right to test any bat at anytime -  if a player is found to have an illegal bat they will be removed from that game and the following 2 games thereafter (even if said games are in the following years tournament). If a batter hits a pitcher that bat can be checked and tested as soon as possible (the game will NOT be stopped and the bat will NOT be removed until it is tested). If a player has 2 test that fail they will be banned from the tournament for the remaining games that year plus 2 years following.

  2. COMMISSIONER RULE: The Commissioner reserves the right to change, alter, or cancel any rule at anytime if he feels its best for the tournament as a whole or a team/player is not gaining an advantage.

  3. COMBINING CLASS: It is the intent of the Alumni Tournament to play with a single class team whenever possible. Mens A will not have the option to combine classes until the youngest team is 20 years graduated from high school. If a 40 year old and over team wants to play in A they can have a roster of anyone 40 yrs old and over.

    • Women’s division may not combine with another class until the youngest team is 15 years graduated from high school. Women can enter a 35 year and older team.

    • Mens B same as Mens A. Mens 35+ Mens 45+ only as needed and must submit request to commissioner for ruling.

    • * If/when 2 classes combine, they must combine with a class 1 year older or 1 year younger. If those classes choose to play as a single class team then they can skip that year and go to the next. (example = if 1934 class wants to combine, it must be with 1933 or 1935. If 1935 is playing as a single class, then 1936 becomes the next option - if years are not playing then the next closest year will be the option. The team combining can choose which class they want to play with).

  4. B-TEAM ELIGIBILITY: A class must have an A-Team, 35+, 45+ team in order to have a B-Team.

  5. PINCH RUNNERS: Mens A, B, Women’s = sanctioned tournament rules apply, check with umpire.

35+, 45+, Ladies = Unlimited with players not in the active lineup, then sanction rules apply. If both teams agree on pinch runner rules prior to start of game, then they can be altered based on both teams agreement.

Changes and/or Rule Enforcement 2025:

  • The Alumni Tournament is and was established for single class teams to participate at the most competitive level. It is NOT the responsibility of The Tournament to change rules/guidelines to match up to any scenario a particular class desires.

  • You must have an entry in the Mens A tournament or in the Legends in order to have an entry in the Mens B tournament.

  • You must play as a single class team with NO added members from other classes. If you do then you have an illegal player ( see below)

  • 2025 Divisions: Mens A / Legends (20 years out of high school ) /, Masters ( 32 years out of high school aka 50 years old +),/ Mens B, /Ladies Classic, /Women.

  • Legends Division* = 20 years out of high school and older ( 2005 in 2025 and older )

  • Masters Division = 32 years out of high school ( 1993 and older in 2025) In the division if you can not field a single class team then you may combine with either one class older than yours or one class younger —- example = If 1987 wants to combine they must do so with 1986 or 1988 . Teams 60 years old ( 1983 and older) may have multiple classes on the team. Masters will have unlimited pinch runners and will be able to play with 11 defenders.

  • For all scenarios that a class would like to attempt to do something different than what is stated then a comittee of peers will be formed ( 5 people) to vote on a decision - This scenario needs to be submitted via email or similar to the commissioner prior to July 15 for a decision.

  • HR Rule: Mens A - Legends - Masters- Women - Ladies Classic = 6 HR ( over the fence) Mens B = 2 HR ( over the fence) - All others will be an out.

  • Tournament will Begin on Friday July 25 at 6pm for 1st round of games. Division TBD prior to drawing ( probably will be Mens A, B, and Women )

  • ALL games will be played at Fryer Park ( owned by City of GC and rules and regs placed by City ) No golf carts other than workers inside diamond fenced areas. Parking Lots only. Currently working with City on places inside the park to put up tents and places to sit in between games. Fryer park has concessions so no food trucks . There will be alchohol sold at the park so none can be brought into the facility. A portion of the sales are donated back to GCHS to fund the GCHS Hall of Fame.

  • The commissioner can change/alter all rules if it is in the best interest of the tournament as a whole.

  • Any team using an illegal player ( a player not cleared in writing with the commissioner that is not in your class ) will forfeit the game immediately and opponent will be declared winner - this does not need to happen during the contest as stated in typical rule book - we can NOT go back in time after the next games have started.
